What Customers Say

Once again thanks for more great memories and another life time experience

Hi Karen,

How are you doing? I am doing well. I sent you an email right after I got back from our trip with you all. I guess you didn't get it. I wanted to say that the crew was great again and the bikes worked awesome. Also we got to see a different side of Rich that I was expecting from him. It was loads of fun and it was nice to ride with a bigger group this time. I got to meet lots of nice people on the trip. Pepe was really nice he helped me out was a good friend on the trip. I want to say a big thanx to you for the jacket!

It is sooooooooooooo nice. I love it its great. I use it all of the time and it works great. I couldn't believe it when I got it. Also I really liked the horsepower ranch. It was great. My friend and I played darts and hung out with the other kids when we were there. Rich was a great guide

again. I don't think he was sure of how well my friend and I could ride at first but we proved to him we were good. He had us come with him through the 4 miles of deep sand and rocks that only some of the good riders got to do. I think he was kinda impressed. It was nice to see special Ed again.

He remebered me and we talked with him for awhile. Once again you had the nicest employees on our tour. I can't say enough about the accomadations and people you all supply us with. Oh yea I forgot but Rich went down.

It was kinda funny because he was just making fun of me when I went down.

Two more things. Captain Dave has become my dads hero and his goal for when he turns his age. Also we plan to gone on another tour with you all the summer of 07 and plan on bringing both of my brothers. Once again thanks for more great memories and another life time experience.

Viva Baja!

Hi Rod,

Be happy to give you a little insight as a rider. First of all you can expect to have the experience of a lifetime no matter what your abilities are as a rider.

My first trip in April 2005 I had only been riding a short period of time, a couple of years at the most. I can say I was a little apprehensive about the whole thing. They took good care of me in that they were aware of my abilities and the abilities of other riders. Some of us were novices and some were pretty fast. They first of all did a split according to abilities as we had a large group that ride. This way no one felt they were being held up or pushed beyond their abilities. Remember you all are going to the same place, some may just get there sooner than others so just keep that in mind. This worked out really well for all involved.

You can expect the ride to be a some highway miles to get to the trails, some sand, some whoops, dry lake beds, ranch roads and riding in a high pine forest with several small river crossings. All of it very doable without any question. It truly is awesome riding no matter your ability. The guides are very attentive to your needs and closely watch how everyone is doing, making sure all get plenty of fluids and nutrition and most importantly that all make the days destination safely and that you arrive at your destination with a grin on your face, which you will.

The ranch roads are areas you do need to pay particular attention to, though no different than ranch roads in the USA. Just need to watch your speed in blind corners and at the rise of any hills. There are grazing cattle and of course ranchers getting to and from their properties. Here's a tip in case you didn't already know - stand on the pegs when reaching the crest to increase your line of sight. All in all not much traffic was encountered on either of my trips. You just need to be aware you are not the only ones on these roads.

Each trip I took $500 cash down with me. I ended up bringing home $200 after each trip. There's really not a whole lot you have to pay for other than beer and souvenirs and of course your stay in San Diego that Sunday night on your return. I found a great hotel for myself and four buddies last time around. Let me know if you need their info. be happy to send this to you. Not too expensive and right downtown close to restaurants.

What to take - if you don't have gear be sure to rent it from them. It's top shelf Fox riding gear. If you do have your own gear don't forget a jacket. February could have inclement weather, especially if you get into the pine forest. Forget traditional long underwear, rather a breathable thermal top and or bottoms work much better as they wick away moisture( I use Mountain Hardware), keeping you warm and dry. Don't forget a Camelback with storage compartments. I have a Camelback Mule with a 100 oz reservoir and storage for an extra set of goggle straps, lenses, Imodium AD (don't laugh), camera, power bars, sunscreen and room for the removable sleeves from my jacket. Be sure to take a lot of pictures at every opportunity. I didn't take enough but will next time around. Be sure to take an alarm clock ( I bought a $8.00 dollar small one at Walgreen's) and a small flashlight. Mike's Sky Rancho (one of your overnight stays) is run on solar power and generators. If you need to get up in the middle of the night a flash light is handy in finding the bathroom. Might want to take some Ibuprofen for any muscle soreness you might encounter. I got a little saddle sore so next time I'll take some cycling shorts, just in case.

In closing, I can honestly say that you will have the time of your life. Baja as you will find is a beautiful, magical place, the ultimate place to ride. As far as the Chris Haines tour is concerned, this operation is the Bomb when it comes to Baja riding. The bikes are meticulously maintained, the guides are a great group of guys, the riding, well, it's nothing short of awesome. As a matter of fact. A buddy of mine and I have now been twice, and we're going back for more! We're schedule to do the run from Ensenada to Loreto in October, 2006.

If there's anything I've left out feel free to let me know, I'd be glad to offer any further insight.

Now, go have a great time!

Viva Baja!

The trip was amazing

Chris - The trip was amazing - never had so much fun in my life! Christi was blown away. She just wishes we could have ridden more. The kid has a lot of energy. And I am just glad she had the mountain bike experience or she probably would have gone down several times. There was some very challenging terrain.

Your organization, the attention to detail and focus on safety made a big difference to me. It makes one wonder what the ride could have been like with a lesser organization - pretty scary.

Anyway, send me what you have on your La Paz plans - sounds very interesting - would like to know more. Do you plan to set up a riding center where people could rent gear for day rides in the area?

Great ride, great people, and great times. Thanks again!

P.S. And please give my regards to that highway patrol officer and Tim - they were a very big part of the fun. And give them a map of Tijuana.

Best, Keith

...how impressed I am with your operation and your staff

Hey Chris:

Sorry we didn't get a chance to see you on this ride. I understand you're under the gun in preparing for the 1000 in two weeks.  It was nice to complete a ride without a visit to the hospital in Ensenada.

I wanted to let you know how impressed I am with your operation and your staff. The whole trip from San Diego to San Diego went without a hitch. The equipment was all 100% without any problems. The attitude and professionalism of your staff is impressive. They're an extremely friendly, helpful and hardworking bunch and they really are good fun to be around. Please thank them again for me.

I'm going to try to come back in February with Mack. Good luck on the race. I'll be looking for you in the winners circle!

Regards,

Doug

I couldn't have asked for a better trip.

Chris:

Well, after dumping the bike 5 times in the first 2 days of our trip, I've now gone an entire week and not had a single accident -- no small feat in Los Angeles.
Anyway, I wanted to tell you how great the 7-day Baja trip was.  The biking was challenging but not over the top.  The scenery was spectacular, especially the hole-in-the-wall beach stops for breakfast or lunch.  The food and lodging were top-notch.  Your staff were helpful, energetic, and fun.  Jimmy was a hoot.  (I hope he survives his Baja 1000 solo outing.)  And you personally showed the patience of Job to this poor biker-wannabe.  I couldn't have asked for a better trip.
Here's a couple of follow-ups to things we discussed on the trip.

1.  Could you send me a map highlighting where we went?

2.  Do you have any Chris Haines t-shirts or hats I might buy?

3.  Could you or your staff put together a list of the riders and their contact information (name, phone number, address, email address) and send it to me and the others?  That way we can keep in touch, send each other Christmas cards, or share some of our photos via email or a photo web site.

4.  Let me know how your La Paz real estate plans progress.  I've always liked La Paz itself, and that Bay of Dreams area was pretty sweet.

Let me know.  Mike

The guys were great to hang out with and put up with our antics.

Chris, Karen, and the Haines team,

We just finished the 3 day bike tour and had a great time.  Captain Dave, Klaus, and Andrew were top notch. When we book another tour we will request Dave, Klaus, and Andrew to be our tour masters.
The team was able to select trails that were very challenging to fit the talent of the group.  Andrew did a great job of keeping the bikes running while setting up wonderful trail side lunches.  Accommodations and logistics were excellent.
The guys were great to hang out with and put up with our antics.
We would recommend Haines Tours to anyone that wants to experience Baja.

Brian, Gary, Dave

We would not hesitate to recommend your services to anyone

Dear Chris and Karen

I wanted to drop you a quick note on behalf of the team and thank you for your great effort and support. The race was everything we could have hoped it would be...although we would love to have got the 6 hours back we lost ...nevertheless, we finished and we felt we could have gone a lot quicker. We all came home in one piece with lots of memories and photos!
The bike as we said, was superb...perfectly set up despite the bad luck we had. Kudos to your team for their excellent work and effort. Also, you insight and assistance elsewhere was first rate and we felt like we had the best possible resources in our corner.

We would not hesitate to recommend your services to anyone interested...please feel free to use us as a reference. You run an absolutely first class organization and it was a pleasure to get to know you and have this adventure together. We hope to be back again for the race...perhaps not next year although John might make a run at it...Tom and I have other commitments this year despite how attractive it is. I think personally, if I do it again I would want to do it solo. So I will need more planning etc for that one.
On a side note...

If you know of any photographers etc who might have posted photos etc please let us know.

So have a wonderful Christmas season...say hi to everyone and please...if you are ever up our way...look us up. We would love to show you around. Thanks and bonne chance.

Cheers

Todd and I had an incredible time

Karen

I just wanted to let you know that Todd and I had an incredible time.  We honestly could not have had more fun.  Klauss, Andrew and The Captain were all excellent.  Everyone was extremely professional and fun.  Andrew did a great job of getting everything ready.  His lunches were great and he went above the call of duty to make sure we had a good time in the evenings after dinner.  The same can be said about Klauss and The Captain.  The bikes were impeccably prepared, the trails were challenging and they both did a great job making sure we were safe and having a good time.  Todd and I briefly considered taking bikes down to Baja and doing this on our own, we laughed at our folly about 1 hour into our 1st day.  Having you guys take care of the logistics is a no brainer.  All we had to do was eat, sleep and ride.  We really lucked out with having Ted, Robert and Mike as our riding partners.  We had a blast and made some friends for life.  Thanks to everyone in your organization.  We won’t hesitate to recommend your company to anyone and everyone considering doing this sort of thing.  We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.

Thanks again,

Nic

Everything was top-notch and we had a fantastic time

Karen

I just wanted to thank you for another great trip. Everything was top-notch and we had a fantastic time. Joe was especially thrilled with the jacket you had for him – he wears it all the time. As usual, all of your people were first rate and lots of fun.

Thanks, Jim Marcussen

I CANNOT WAIT TO COME BACK NEXT YEAR!!!

Hi Karen,

This is Pete Richard, from the Bob Mackenzie group. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to write this, but I just wanted to let you and Chris know how much of a great time I had on our tour.

Words cannot describe how it exceeded my expectations far beyond what I had previously anticipated. Our guides, Rich and Pete, were not only very knowledgeable, courteous, and professional, they were just a down-right blast to be with. Being a first-timer to Baja, and a relative novice to that type of offroad riding, I particularly appreciated Pete's advice and mentoring, not to mention his patience! I still cannot believe the wealth of knowledge I gained in such a short time from Pete, and I am sincerely and deeply grateful.

A huge thanks to our crew, Jeremy, J.C., and John as well. Those three guys were top-notch in everything they did, and I felt like royalty as they catered to our every need. And as with Rich and Pete, they were just plain fun to hang around with. Trust me, as rowdy and crass as us Texans can get, that's a huge bonus for us on a trip like this. :-)

Lastly, to top off everything where I thought it could not get any better, I just received an awesome, professionally done CD of pictures and videos from the trip, all taken and compiled by Pete Postel. What a terrific keepsake! We tried to talk Pete into accepting payment for them, but he refused...just one more example of how great your staff is).

I could go on for hours exclaiming my excitement, but I'll close by just saying that I CANNOT WAIT TO COME BACK NEXT YEAR!!!

Hope this finds you doing very well.

My sincerest thanks,

Pete Richard

Keep up the good work, your a real class act!

This was definitely more than I expected.

To all,

It felt more like broke butt mountain to me...

I am still sore but came home with a big smile. This was definitely more than I expected. I envisioned some similar tagaytay back road riding, really hot weather (no need for jackets...right max?), great resorts with massage...

What we went through was absolutely amazing... Patxi was right: it was a crash course in offroad riding.

Thanks to all for the support and encouragement. I still can't believe I survived! It definitely made me a better rider.

Thanks Jaime and Fernando for giving me a chance to meet these great bunch of people: I now know more about salt, grey whales, and bear hunting than ever before.

I hope we can get together again soon.

Cheers,

ART

Thank you Chris and Karen. Returned home on Monday to lots of chores and am finally getting my head above water so I felt it time to get a note off to you. I (we) had the most fantastic time on our Baja adventure. Everyone was fantastic. Your whole operation is first rate and I feel most blessed that you invited me to come along for the ride. Paul has lots of pictures from all of us to share.

I hope Kathryn and I will get a chance to see you when you next visit Seattle. Please call! For now it's back to the chore list.

Best always,

Terry

Dear Chris,

Thank you, once again, for a truly exceptional Baja motorcycle experience!

This trip marked the third time we have worked with your capable staff to create the ultimate off road motorcycling adventure. The support team did a terrific job of catering to our every need. They kept both the bikes and riders in perfect operating condition! We also appreciated their willingness to change the routing a bit to show us areas we had never seen before. Several of the more experienced riders in our group even got to taste a bit of challenging single track in the area around Mike's Sky Ranch.

As always, the bikes and equipment were impeccable. The Hondas are the ultimate desert machines and I continue to be impressed by the power delivery of the XR650R. I keep your promotional piece on my wall to remind me how much fun we have letting them run on the dry lake beds outside of San Felipe!

As you know, many of the riders in my group keep coming back year after year. It may sound a bit cliché, but each trip seems to get better and better. When we come to the end of the ride, we start looking forward to next year.

It has always been a real treat to ride with you and I look forward to our next Baja off road experience!

Warm regards,

Bill Bagnard
you certainly outclass anybody else in the business...
--Tom Brunholtz

Chris,

Just a quick note. I would like to personally thank you for the ride last week. The beauty of the Baja is something that has to be experienced. Pictures cannot adequately show the majesty of this undiscovered gem. Your professional team is certainly without equal. The sweepers, mechanics and you certainly outclass anybody else in the business. We are already looking forward to next year. Captain Dave is my new "hero". It was such a joy to listen to him speak about motorcycle racing legends. Being from Kansas, we could only dream of meeting these people once in our lifetime. It was so cool to meet someone that actually used to compete against those legends.

On a more serious note, we would like to know if it is possible to send food, clothing, or "something" to the small Pi Pi Indian village that we drove through on the first day? My heart sank to my stomach when we cruised through and saw those children with hardly a stitch of clothing on. We would like to know if they would accept some help or would it hinder there development if they were exposed to too much of the "new world". My mother regularly sends items to an Indian reservation up in South Dakota. She has got quite a following with a tribe up there. Please let us know if there is anything that you could do to help us help them.

Sincerely,

Tom Brunholtz

One of the best experience of my life...
--Chris S. Kelly

Karen,

Just a follow-up email to again think everyone for a super trip. I had one of the best experience of my life. Chris and the gang were a pleasure to tour with. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of all aspects of the trip. Things could not have been set-up or run better. I have no suggestions as to how to improve upon the tour. (oh except maybe get Mike to fix the tv satellite)

As I explained, I am not an expert rider by any means, and was a little apprehensive about "holding the group up" when I learned everyone else had past motorcrosss experience. This was not the case at all. I was allowed to ride at my pace at all times and never felt rushed or pressured at all. James was really great with giving me tips and helping me out along the way.

I just wanted to express my appreciation and say JOB WELL DONE! I definitely plan to return. Oh and by-the-way, since I had to carry my helmet on the plane, I got asked by several folks where I had been etc. I talked to one of the pilots from Northwest at length about the tour and how great you guys were. He had heard of Chris and was definitely interested!

Thanks to all,

Chris S. Kelly
You delivered ten times what we expected...
--Robert P. Herrmann, Resident Vice President - Private Client Group, Merrill Lynch

Dear Chris,

I still cannot get over how incredible our trip was. We all had big expectations and you delivered ten times what we expected.

I just finished having the pictures developed and I am again amazed at the scenes we took in. I never expected Mexico to be so beautiful. I had several of the photos blow-up and framed.

As for the riding, I could go back out and do it all again this weekend. The terrain was constantly changing and very challenging for us experienced riders. Yet, all the guys that were novices had to do was go a bit slower and it was great for them too.

I have already sold two trips for you and also mentioned it to our YPO group at a dinner last night.

Thanks again from all of us.

Bob
Thanks for another great Baja trip...

Thanks for such a wonderful trip...
--K. Wade Walker, GASTINGER WALKER HARDEN ARCHITECTS

Dear Chris:

I wanted to drop you note expressing my appreciation for putting together such a great motorcycle trip for our group. The trip, variety of terrain, motorcycles, service, food and cold cerveza were absolutely outstanding, even better than we imagined! No doubt, you somewhat take this trip for granted since you ride it so often, but I can tell that Mike Williams, his son Oak and I had almost as much fun getting ready for the trip as we had on the trip. So much so, that we are ready to go again when we can work out our mutual schedules.

Enclosed is a group photo and video tape of our trip (not the quality of Jerry Bernardo!). Again, thanks for such a wonderful trip, we look forward to riding with you in the future.

Best Regards,

K. Wade Walker, AIA
You run a first class operation and my highest compliments to you and your staff...
--Franz Webber, Austrian former world skiing champion

Dear Chris:

I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for a wonderful trip! As a novice rider, the road selection was important and it helped tremendously to go from a paved road to a smooth offroad and graduate to extreme terrain. You run a first class operation and my highest compliments to you and your staff. You and Lyle assembled a really nice group of people and it was my pleasure to meet everyone and experience the sport of riding! I look forward to bringing organized groups back to your operation. Also, my thanks to Karen as she was extremely helpful in supplying me with information and explanations!

Looking forward to seeing you again in the near future. Best regards.

Your friend,

Franz
